""I may be a Demon, but if you think I'll sit around and let you pop open this Gateway to contact your so-called origin, you've got another thing commin'. We're nothin' alike, 'cause I exist to put things like you back in the Abyss."

Voices

Known as the White Demon among the cities and a Phase Red S-Class criminal, Sylar is a terror in his own rights. He is one of the major characters in Control Sequence and Nex's long-time ally.

Sylar is a chaotic force who despises governmental control in every sense of the word. He has a disdain toward the Liberation Sector.

He commands unnatural darkness-infused electricity made from purely concentrated Seithr Scourge and is the owner of the sealed spear-type weapon Dirus Fulgar: Apolloexon.

He appears to have suffered an encounter with Black Corrosion

Episode 10 marked his first appearance in Control Sequence, and since then he's been a standard character and ally to Nex. Sylar is also a major character in Rebellion Sequence beginning with Arc 4: Destroyer of Eternity.

Basic History[]

Sylar is an infamous Destructive Irregularity who is the foe of the Liberation Sector, strangely going unnoticed by the system until recently. He wields the powerful weapon known as Dirus Fulgur: Apolloexon and is one of Nex’s allies from Rebellion Sequence. The alterations of his body are something that has plagued him for most his life, having had it for as long as he can recall, where his cellular structure is twisted and it has made him to be a ‘Demon’ with similarities to the Seithr Irregularities or a being outside of Logic itself. He can appear somewhat shallow and even incapable of being serious, but in truth he hides a troubled history with his time from Taoreta.

Around the end of the Phantom Operations in 2391, a young Sylar was kept within the region of Yurisa in an unspecified location, as his memories are limited of it, only recalling being treated questionably. Someone there he met would christen him Sylar and give him his bolt-cross necklace though why this was the name chosen isn’t clear to him. The teleportation that was to send him to a different location was interrupted by the same individual, but Sylar never would get to know the name of that savior of his young life.

He woke up later to a city very few knew of, housing a growing rebellion. Unfortunately this was not meant to be for him either, and the complications of his body and similarities to the Seithr Irregularities raised issues with the people here who were understandably concerned of him becoming a threat to their well-being and safety. Not even a year later, Sylar departed and tried to find a place for himself, heading to Taoreta to fight the hellspawn of the Boundary without any aid, hardening himself in the region where mercy, naivety and loyalty are a death sentence.

There in Taoreta, he became a well-known criminal working with individuals in the ruined cities, and his personality adapted to his new home, becoming familiar with the concepts of betrayal, self-preservation, and pride, with a lot of the darker sides of his personality taking root in these years he spent here. In addition, one of his jobs led to him locating the Apolloexon in Ibukido, a city he’d become infamous in and is allegedly responsible for the Ibukido Disaster that claimed the lives of thousands.

Sylar left his life in Taoreta behind him after three years of it, and would travel to Yurisa, a region he--unaware at the time--would circle back to. For a time he stayed here getting to know the subordinate of a certain Lord of Sector 51. He was suddenly antagonized instead and branded a ‘Demon’ leading into a conflict with the Sector in 2395, which was short-lived as he was no match for a Lord who wielded lightning far greater than his. Sylar spent the better part of three years wandering around aimlessly, occasionally striking at the Liberation Sector if he managed to find them, but it was becoming increasingly clear that his life was heading nowhere and was only spiraling further downhill as he kept relentlessly seeking out any connections to what he witnessed during the Ibukido Disaster.

In 2398 and into his 20s, Nex and Sylar would meet for the first time in Yamatsumi over the course of Rebellion Sequence’s fourth arc: Destroyer of Eternity. Although they didn’t initially begin as allies, they would come to rely on each other for many following conflicts. These times where he was with Nex and others in this group are memories that Sylar seems to cherish. For some reason this would come to an end, and Sylar would return to traveling alone. This is only further cemented by Akuhei in Verse 2, as their group broke apart, a fact that has damaged his mental well-being and greatly angers him.

Alongside dodging the Sector's pursuits, Sylar seems to dedicate himself to now fighting off the Seithr Irregularities like Zaezel, and can't stand when someone interferes with it.

Character Profiles[]

Purity and Sin[]

A young man who holds the appearance of a 'Demon', he has appeared in Kagutsuchi for unknown reason, chasing after a powerful Seithr Irregularity who has set its sights on Kagutsuchi. He appears to have some kind of connection with Nex's history. Wielding a strange transforming staff, he contains power over a unnatural pitch black lightning. Sylar follows his own agenda, and despises the Liberation Sector. While willing to work with others, Sylar is unpredictable and tends to lack restraint, and he loathes the idea of control. Sylar's appearance seems to be a omen of disaster as he is supposedly responsible for the death of thousands in Ibukido, his intents unknown make him a suspicious sort that the system has become aware of.

Primordial Awakenings[]

The infamous White Demon who has arrived to Kagutsuchi to follow the actions of the strange Seithr Irregularity named Zaezel. He wields a power of what’s called “White Darkness” and is known now to be one of the few who Nex truly trusts as an ally and has a lot of knowledge pertaining to the events occurring in the City. After losing sight of Zaezel he goes right back after him unconcerned with the fact he’s become a target of both forces. However, as crime becomes more rampant in a weakened Kagutsuchi, many turn their eyes to him to discover his apparent connection to everything happening in the City, but Sylar continuing to keep his intentions to himself only makes things harder for him.

Souls of Eternity[]

The White Demon from Ibukido and former member of the Nadir Union with a history of disaster that haunts him. He is one of Nex’s allies who he met in Yamatsumi. Following the events of Kagutsuchi, he has started to struggle heavily with his Drive and weapon and keeping himself under control. However, his pride doesn’t let him show this often. While still dodging the Liberation Sector, he aids Nex in confronting the SIA so he can learn the truth they’re hiding from him in hopes of learning what they have to do with his situation and why he is suddenly of interest to the system itself. But something seems to be strained between him and his close ally as of late.

Personality[]

Considered to be one of the most unpredictable in the cast, Sylar will go from calm to agitated, to extremely distant all in the span of a conversation. He has a mercurial temperament, and is an unrestrained force who does completely as he pleases. The man abhors control and those who exert it the governments, but none more so than Sector 51, which he seeks personal destruction of.

With a tongue that is rapid and crude, he never seems to run out of things to say but he tends to fail to notice what he says is often rude or questionable. Tending to lack concern to what goes on around him when he doesn't care about it, Sylar can be considered aloof.

He has a confident will and vigorous sense of fearless spirit. This spirit is nearly impossible to break, and while he disdains judgmental eyes toward his existence and choices, he tends to just laugh off any insults and poke fun at his foes and even his allies; often giving them nicknames. Along with this, he boasts passion, pride, sarcasm and holds much pent up anger and an undying desire to challenge himself in combat as in the heat of battle can he vent the fury held inside.

Perhaps from his criminal experience, Sylar is as deceivingly intelligent as he is savage and is capable of fooling some of the most cunning minds at times, working situations to his advantage—but his impatient, reckless nature can often ruin any kind of long term or detailed plan he has. He is more suited to solo operations, as he trusts very few. He has no concerns with right and wrong, isn't afraid to get his hands dirty or make sacrifices others won't and doesn't seem to have lines he draws for himself, being willing to backstab those who get in his way. Though, there are some lines he refuses to cross, primarily concerning those who have earned his loyalty.

Sylar also lacks direction in life, seemingly guided only by his power. He shows a lack of self-control, along with self-understanding, making the true sides of him extremely puzzling to figure out. He can be power hungry, irresponsible, uncaring, dismissive, egotistical, arrogant and even wrathful. At his worst, he is self-destructive to the point he'll be susceptible to sink his teeth into a darker, violent personality in combat; taking his love of fighting and challenge to a far more gruesome level.

Despite all that's negative about him, Sylar is quite loyal and when he sees the need he'll help others. He's self-motivated and his vigorous spirit makes him quite positive in truth, being able to keep fighting even in grim scenarios. To those who earn his trust, he becomes incredibly loyal to and holds a sense of deep respect around them. As seen in some scenarios with Red Thunder's Mujihi Mazio, he has a strong conscience and will be unable to turn away from someone who truly needs or deserves his help. This was also the case with Myri, where he came back despite saying he'd leave to return to help her calm his ally, Nex.

Although it is difficult to get under his skin, once something sets him off, he will not back down and turns relentless. This can sometimes be to a detriment to his psyche, as he has been seen mentioning that he knows better than to let himself sink into such mindsets. Although some of it may be a side-effect of wielding Apolloexon.

Appearance[]

Often seen with a rather surly grin, Sylar is depicted as a tall and average built man with a decent sized body. His eyes are pitch black with strange white irises giving credence to his name the White Demon. His hair is swept forward wildly and to the side of his temple with many spiky strands while his bangs hang down away from his eyes, its tone a darker than black with a single stand of blackish blue to the side. Around his neck, he wears a chain necklace that has a cross shaped like a bolt on the end, which was a gift from someone he met.

Sylar wears a longer and loose sleeveless black shirt with blue accents that covers his mid-torso down, while it exposes his collar bone and a bit of his frontal body. Slung over it is a unique reversible coat that is a material similar to leather with one side being rather drab and uninteresting shade of black, with its usual hood and longer sleeves. The shoulders of the jacket are thick with small rips. His claws are concealed by specialized gloves that end in sharp points so he can still use his talons. He often is seen wearing contacts of various colors in this disguise as well, with a common favorite being an electric blue. When in disguise, he keeps the coat closed over his body. His pants are a shade of ash which is more often than not concealed by his coat, and the cuffs are torn, leading to his shoes which are covered in bits of sleek blue steel matching that which is on his belts.

When he goes into combat or reveals his identity, his attire becomes far more outlandish and wild. He'll fling the coat around and its sleeves will detach to reveal his arms infused with solidified Seithr Scourge wrapping seamlessly to his skin and jutting out in makeshift spikes on the forearm, this transformation extends down and his gloves come off to reveal demonic claws of the same substance though they’re not bigger than what should be his hands. Pale whitish blue energy surges through like faint veins in the gaps lighting it up with an electrical flash. The drab, uninspired look of the coat swaps to display its rich midnight blue colors with electric blue accents streaking it, his coat's six cloves unfurl from the back and his large collar is displayed. Tied into the seams of the coat near the middle is a set of chains which hangs off of the jacket fluidly.

Besides his claws, Sylar's body has other oddities. Those include a dull and blackened v-shaped construct that looks like it's an alloy that is embedded on his forehead which is colorless and is a protrusion that look like horns.
