Serza is one of the Sequence Destroyers, and was one of the very first in the experimental division, some consider him a part of the genesis of the project to connect the destructive power of the Exitium to the system directly. Regardless, Serza became highly unstable at a young age of 13 and even before he touched Ophius he exhibited strange capabilities with the Scourge. He was eventually brought into the experimental Destroyers division during the Phantom Operations and at one point the right hand of Akuhei, being considered the strongest of the Sequence Destroyers serving under him.
In his hands, Ophius is a weapon that is capable of infiltration and manipulation of a desire, which not only tells Serza an incredible amount of information about the individual, it also converts this energy from desire into fuel to power the weapon. The weapon acts as Serza's direct connection to the Boundary. From this connection, serpentine manifestations of intertwining emeralds and reds can come from him when Ophius is turned into a haze around his body. This strange hazy shroud also serves as a living shield against anything that might harm him, as it devours just about anything that comes near it.
All of these abilities make Serza quite a dangerous foe to most, but he can be made quite vulnerable without his shroud which can be forced to disappear temporarily.
In Combat[]
His Alter Drive, Apophis is an odd miasma that is similar to magic and is a form of Ophius itself. This powerful shroud absorbs most attacks or projectile energy, dispersing it as snakes to absorb the opponent's agony and make Ophius' 'eyes' open. While in a shroud, Serza is difficult to attack, as nearly every kind of attack will be automatically absorbed by it--but powerful attacks will rapidly deplete the shroud, shrinking it, and eventually the shroud will disappear either by Serza's will or by an opponent's relentless assault. In these cases, Ophius returns to a solid state of a long edge of solidified Scourge, where he is forced to rely on aggression until his shroud restores itself. Absorbing the pain and damage cleverly with Apophis' shroud will disperse it to feed Ophius’ blade, slowly opening its eight eyes and drastically improving his offensive options and capabilities, the longer a fight goes, the more deadly Serza becomes, so it is vital for his foes to try and take him down quickly. Serza may swap his weapon from the edge to a shroud seamlessly and it is an automatic process after the shroud has maximized and all eight eyes are awakened.
When wielding Ophius in solid form, his attacks have great range and abnormal strength. Certain techniques require the shroud to have gathered energy and open the crystalline eyes on its blade, as without it, the attacks are fairly weaker. When Ophius is in the form of the shroud, Serza wields his strength indirectly and more like magic, utilizing snakes and miasma coating his hands to attack his opponents.
